Electromotive force is the potential difference between two points in a circuit. In other words EMF is just polysyllabic jargon for good old voltage. The higher the voltage (potential difference) the greater the electromotive force (which is analogous to air/water pressure), the greater the probability for an electrical shock.

Welcome to this site devoted to electrical and electronic works. I'm no expert at all in the field but I'm learning. My wish is that I will be able to share some of the stuff I've learned over the years that you too may benefit and pass it along as well.
