Using CMOS Devices

One way to destroy a CMOS IC is to throw it into a bonfire. Another way is to touch the pins with your fingers.

CMOS are not just easy to use, they're fun to work with. As long as you don't exceed the absolute maximum ratings CMOS will be just great.

I've simultaneously used four of the total of six buffers of a CD4049 to drive 16mA through LED's. Haven't encountered any problems thus far. I can probably use all six inverting buffers of the package to drive LED's at the same time without burning the device.
